FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What kind of issues can benefit from this work?

Many!  Some common reasons people seek this work include: trauma, feeling depressed or anxious, feeling disconnected, seeking more meaning and purpose, emotional or physical pain, or as a part of addiction recovery. Often clients have tried other modalities of therapy and healing but still feel stuck in some way. It’s important to listen to your intuition about who you feel called to see for deep inner healing work, as every practitioner has different gifts and different ways of working.

Do you have a specialty?

I offer deep inner healing work in which you and I are diving deep together, tracking emotions, sensations, and energies to their source and discovering your unique path of healing as we work. The majority of my work is with clients who have experienced trauma. I am also drawn to work with healers of all kinds. My work is greatly influenced by Internal Family Systems and I also have a special interest in understanding and working with the burdens we may carry from our family lineage, including ways to disentangle those burdens and reconnect with our ancestors in a healthy way.

Is what I share in my session kept private?

Yes. I adhere to ethical standards which include honesty, integrity and confidentiality.  I honor the rights of my clients to be treated fairly, without discrimination, according to their best interests. The only time confidentiality would be limited would be if it is clear that someone is an immediate threat to themselves or someone else.

Is shamanic work religious? And do I have to believe in it for it to work?

Shamanic work is not religious. It does hold the perspective that everything and everyone is a part of one web of life and that there exists a spirit realm in addition to the physical realm. You don’t need to believe in shamanism to benefit - just be open-minded to the work. I have enjoyed working with people of various religious faiths, with those who are spiritual but not religious, as well as with those who are atheist or agnostic. All are welcome.

Does remote healing really work?

Yes. Clients usually find it just as effective as in-person healing work. However if you prefer in-person sessions, those are available as well.

Since you left the practice of psychiatry, are you against psychiatric medicine?

No. Medications can be helpful when used judiciously. I encourage each person to follow the healing path that is right for them, including whatever other practitioners and treatments are most helpful along the way.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask that you give at least 24 hours notice whenever possible for cancellation, and more when you are able. Knowing that urgent situations do arise at times, I do not charge the first time a session is missed or 24 hour notice is not given. After that time, if there are further missed appointments or cancellations without 24 hours notice, you will be responsible to pay the usual session fee.

What Covid precautions are you taking? Do you require masks?

Masks are optional at this time. I am happy to wear a mask during your session if you prefer; just let me know. Please respect social distancing guidelines in public areas. In my office, I follow recommended precautions for work that involves close contact including hand washing, disinfecting surfaces frequently, and changing healing table sheets for each client. I also use a HEPA air filter.

Note: My practice is currently full. If you wish to be on my email list for events, please let me know.
